I wish I could comment more…I actually have a purpose for taking this apart but I probably should not say. There are a couple of *very* interesting facts and…er…facts about the device.

Prediction!:

PS3 will exceed all predictions by January 08. My conservative estimate lies around 10-ish mil sold.

Wii, of course, will be on top before December, but it doesn't really count.

PS2 will beat all home consoles...

Then DS will shut them all down.

Wii wifi will still cause you to tear your follicles out.

PSP will finally gain some good ground in the market. Ok, too much?

My predictions:

1) The success of the Wii will continue, going hand in hand with the continuing tremendous growth in retro gaming and emulation gaming.

2) ON PC 2007 will will be a continuation of a couple big hits that deserve it, a couple of big hits that don't and 327 games that are crap. Title will continue to be clones of previois titles, games will continue to get shallower, games will continue to be too hardware demanding and PC games will continue it's 3 year decline.

3) The PS3 will stumble in the most dramatic way, having to back peddle on price and seeing the least 3rd party support than for the release of any previous Sony console. Worry of whether Blue-Ray will win the Next Gen DVD race, along with it's too high price-point will lead to a very lacklustre year.

4) The XBox 360 will continue it's steady sales incline, but still be behind sales targets in many markets and will still have it's shareholders on it's back about it. It will have it's most exclusives, but they will disappoint rather than surprise, with their quality.

5) Windows for Games will not exist in 2008

6) the cost of Vista and a DX10 card will further speed the decimation of casual gamers, who will run, lock stock and wallet to the Wii

7) In PC gaming independent labels will get more respect and will get more column inches in the press.

8) In 2007 The PS2 will sell more units than the PS3 in the USA and Europe, if Sony produce enough units.

9) The DS will run out of good games and talk will begin on its and PSP's successors.

10) Video gaming software sales overall will be flat as a precursor to declines in 2008 and beyond as the video gaming bubble bursts due to lack of innovation, hardware and software costs and the cost of games development all finally breaking the back of the industry. All leading to a re-birth in a new form, Pheonix like, or staying a much smaller market than it was. (Don't think it can happen? PC games sales are down 50% in 6 years, tell me what PC gamer would have predicted that in 2000 with releases like Alien vs Predator, Omikron: Nomad Soul, Homeworld, The Longest Journey, Metal Gear Solid, Pirates 2, Sacrifice, Freespace 2, Giants: Citizen Kabuto, Gabriel Knight 3, Outcast, etc!)

I should have worded the PS3 one better. What I meant was that I don't think the PS3 is going to have sold 10 Million systems by this time next year. It will defiantly sell well and Sony has a strong and loyal fan base in the UK.

Thanks Michael. Happy new year to you too.

I have a feeling ps3 will sell well, especially here in the UK.
a price drop will give it a boost - i know I'm definitely waiting till then.

I think you'll be right on nr. 5 - Maybe we'll see that Linux and Mac gets a larger marketing share in the upcomming years.
