WarioWare Wii, A History of Nintendo?

While we’re on the subject of viral advertising, Nintendo has hit on a rather good trick: inserting Virtual Console, DS and GameCube games into WarioWare in the form of mini-games (see above video). GayGamer suggests that this is merely Nintendo paying homage to some of their classic games, but the more cynical part of me can’t help but wonder if this is Nintendo using WarioWare as a hook to get gamers to download or buy other games. Almost like product placement.

Either way, the game looks good and this gameplay footage is much more interesting then the rather bland E3′06 footage that’s been kicking around the Internet since the summer.

AARRRRRRGGGGGGG! (Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Rabbids)

RabbidFaith Naked, the noted games columnist, has posted a pretty comprehensive collection of Ubisoft’s viral ads for Rayman: Raving Rabbids. If you haven’t seen these yet, the I advise checking them out. The Rabbids manage to be cute, psychotic and funny at the same time, which is a pretty good achievement.

The Rabbids ads also take the award for best in show for Next Gen advertising. Sony and Nintendo’s campaigns have just been bizarre and Microsoft’s is boring. The Rabbids actually make me want to go out and buy the game.
