A few months ago, EA announced that it was to make a platform exclusive version of the Sims for the Wii, as well as developing The Sims 3 for a variety of other platforms. They’ve been busy as well, launching the Sims Wii site yesterday. It can be found here. It is is Japanese and it only has the video below and four gameplay screens on it, but it certainly conveys exactly what Wii Sims is about: the cuteness factor.
From that video alone, I can tell you that I’ll be giving this a miss. I did enjoy Animal Crossing and I do enjoy the Sims, but the last time a Sims games was simplified like that we ended up with the godawful SimTown, SimCity 2000’s little brother. It looks like it’s simplifying the Sims series addictive gameplay and customisation options just too much.
That said, there is no doubt that with the cute cartoony style, this will appeal to many Japanese games and well as a fair chunk of gamers from elsewhere.
